Three students to be honored during scholarship awards

Dunedin, Florida -- Dunedin High School Resource Officers will present scholarship awards to three Dunedin High School seniors to help cover college costs. 

These scholarships will be presented during the S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions) awards ceremony. The $2750 in scholarships funds were made possible through the generous donations of various local businesses and through partnerships established by the Dunedin SROs. A total of three scholarships will be awarded during the ceremony; one for $1500, one for $750 and one for $500.

CSX railroad construction replaces railway ties

Pinellas County, Florida -- Three CSX railroad crossings in Clearwater will be closed to eastbound and westbound traffic from Wednesday, May 29 to Tuesday, June 4.

The reason for the closure is due to railroad tie replacement and construction. The following CSX railroad intersections will undergo railroad tie replacement and are scheduled to reopen by Wednesday, June 5:

Pinellas County, Florida -- Pinellas County government offices will be closed on Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day.

The courts of the Sixth Judicial Circuit (Pinellas and Pasco) will not be in session on Monday, May 27, except for first-appearance advisory hearings and emergency situations.

The Solid Waste Administration Building and HEC3 will be closed on Monday, May 27. The scalehouse/landfill will remain open.

The Florida Botanical Gardens and all county parks will remain open.

USA- Today --The Florida sun was shining a little bit brighter Sunday on an unidentified person who beat odds of 175 million-to-1 on a Powerball ticket worth $590.5 million, the largest jackpot in the game's history.

The lucky numbers in Saturday night's drawing were 10, 13, 14, 22 and 52, with a Powerball of 11. A mob of media and the curious amassed Sunday outside the Zephyr Commons Publix supermarket, in the Tampa suburb of Zephyrhills, where the winning ticket was sold.
